Annual Events and Ceremonies
TEIGI DAI-MANDALA-KU
Teigi Dai-mandala-Ku is held on April 10th at 9:00am at Garan and Kon-do (Golden Hall).
It is one of the most important ceremonies of Koyasan. Dai-mandala-Ku is a combination of a service for the enlightment and well-being of the souls of previous temple leaders of Koyasan and the service honouring two main mandalas, the Womb and Diamond World. It is said to have the most ancient origins among all the Buddhist ceremonies in Koyasan and Kobo Daishi, himself made it into practice.
The priests in splendid brocade clothes perform a procession in Garan from Daie-do to Kon-do and continue the ceremony in Kon-do (Golden Hall). The manner of the ceremony held outside of the hall is called "Teigi".
