Gobyo (御廟) / The Mausoleum of Kobo Daishi
This place is the heart of the tradition and faith in Kobo Daishi. Year after year, hundreds of thousands of people make their pilgrimage to Koyasan with the ultimate purpose of visiting this sacred mausoleum. Tourist, residents of Koyasan, and followers of Shingon Buddhism continue to come here to honor Kobo Daishi, who is believed in eternal meditation. For the followers of Shingon Buddhism, it is believed that Kobo Daishi will save those who ask for salvation in this very lifetime.
