Tokugawa's Mausoleum (徳川家霊台)

This mausoleum was built in 1643 by Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third generation Shogun of the Tokugawa family. The architecture is representative of the style from the Edo period. Two identical buildings were designed on the mausoleum site and both were designed with roof beams joining at the central apex. The interior of these buildings are lavishly decorated in lacquered wood with gold leaf, extensive ornamentation and murals.
The building on the right is the mausoleum for General Tokugawa Ieyasu, and the building on left is the mausoleum for General Tokugawa Hidetada.
