The Sanyokai holds a workshop in November. It focuses on saying vows to follow the precepts, ajikan meditation, listening to sermons and services, meditative cleaning of the shrine, and other practices. Specific dates and details are described in the monthly Mount Koya newsletter. This workshop is very popular among members.
Sharing Kobo Daishi’s teachings through workshops and newsletters
Still the mind
alongside Kobo Daishi
This group lets you act as a modern-day Mt. Koya missionary and spread the teachings of Kobo Daishi. By enrolling, you can participate in workshops, receive the Mount Koya newsletter, and visit sites on Mount Koya for free. You will also receive an incense set on your shrine visits.
Memorials for the deceased
These memorials are the result of generous donations. A ceremony to consecrate them was held on November 10, 2002. Participants visit the memorials and hold a service.
The “Mount Koya Time” program is broadcast on shortwave radio and online. It offers sermons direct from the head Shingon temple.
As a member, you will receive a letter of enrollment from the chief abbot of Mount Koya, who presides over the Sanyokai, along with a stole and badge. If you visit Mount Koya wearing the stole, you can enter the various halls and sacred buildings free of charge. You will also be presented with an incense set at Kongobu-ji. Members receive the monthly Mount Koya newsletter and the various pamphlets and literature that the Koyasan Shingon sect publishes.

Dogyokai (Pilgrims’ Meeting)
In today’s modern age, time seems to move too quickly, and there is a plenitude of information and conveniences.
Though circumstances may change, our fundamental essence as humans remains the same.
Amidst the chaos and constant flux, have you taken time to examine yourself and look within?
If you stop and look behind you, you’ll see that your life is supported by many people and things around you. Take time to give thanks back to Buddha for this life, showing your gratitude by purifying the temple halls. By focusing your entire attention on the task of cleansing the spacious halls and temple where Kobo Daishi is enshrined, you will see things in a new light as they are slowly revealed before you.
